Purpose and Mission

The Commission on the Extended University (CEU) is a systemwide advisory group established by the CSU Board of Trustees to facilitate, promote and encourage extended education programs within the CSU.   The commission advises the chancellor on policy, financial and programming aspects of extended education. 

The commission membership includes presidents, provosts, Academic Senate, extended education deans, international and technology representatives.Executive Order 811 details the provisions for the Commission on the Extended University.

Our Purpose


The purpose of the Commission on the Extended University is to create more opportunities for access to education that improves lives.


How We Do This


  • By leveraging the contributions and capabilities of extended education to address the challenges facing the state, nation, and internationally.
  • Providing opportunities for lifelong learning and growth through innovative course offerings, certificates, and degree programs.
  • Increasing collaboration and synergy between campuses to create technical, international, industry education solutions.
  • Diversifying university revenue sources and returning revenue back to the university.
